The View from the Back -  2003 Videos

These videos were shot from a Panasonic GR-DVX4 digital camera mounted on the rollover bar of Marcus's car at circuits where the owner's permission could be obtained. The sequences were subsequently transferred by DV connector (FireWire) to a Sony Vaio lap top computer and pre-installed Sony capture software. Streaming of the video from my web site is courtesy of Oplayo's ultra-light decode video encoding technology, invented in Finland. Check out www.oplayo.com

There are versions of each video at 225 or 300 kbps and at 36 kbps;  the speed of your connection is identified by bandwidth recognition and the most suitable file served to you automatically. There is not much detail if you watch it on a 56K modem... so try it on the office LAN where you'll get the 225 or 300 version.

For 2003 I am using a microphone variously located in the helmet or in the engine bay, so the sound effects are a bit better than last year.

The original video files in .avi format are too big to upload to my website (and I would run out of storage space in a nanosecond).
